Mohammed VI Foundation of Africa holds Hadith Competition in Accra

The Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema, Ghana Branch, has held the second edition of its Annual Hadith Competition in Accra, aimed at promoting Islamic scholarship, preserving the Prophetic traditions, and inspiring young Muslims to deepen their knowledge and faith.

The contest, which also underscores the relevance of Hadith in guiding contemporary Muslim life, brought together students from Madrasas across the country.

Regional preliminaries were conducted in the Northern, Central, and Southern zones to select finalists for the national event.

Participants demonstrated their mastery in memorisation, recitation, and interpretation of Hadith before an audience that included dignitaries from the Moroccan Embassy, leading Islamic scholars, Arabic instructors, and members of the Muslim community.

They commended the Foundation for nurturing the next generation of leaders and scholars.

President of the Foundation’s Ghana Branch, Sheikh Mustapha Ibrahim, praised the high level of commitment displayed by the students and urged winners to make Ghana proud at the upcoming continental finals.

“Ghana will be competing against Nigeria, Mauritania, Senegal, Chad, Morocco and others. With the dedication shown, I am confident Ghana stands a strong chance of winning,” he said.

Winners were announced in three categories including: Category One (40 selected Hadiths with chain of transmission): Afnaan Swalah Nasigri, winner; Abass Iddris, second; Zainab Abdullah, third; Category Two (35 selected Hadiths with meanings): Sa’aadatu Thaalith, winner; Wakeel Abdul Kareem, second; Kamaludeen Mohammed, third and Category Three (25 Ahkaam Hadiths with explanations): Yasin Abdul Mutallib, winner; Hindu Mohammed, second; Muntaka Hamza, third.

The three first-place winners would represent Ghana at the forthcoming All-Africa Hadith Competition.

Last year, Kamaludeen Mohammed of Ghana won both the national and continental contests.
