Mohammed VI Foundation supports 200 families with Ramadan package
The Mohammed VI Foundation, a Moroccan non-governmental organisation for humanitarian service, on Sunday presented assorted food package to over 200 families in Accra to support them observe the annual month-long Ramadan fasting.
The donation of the food stuffs- bags of rice, cooking oil, tomato paste, milk, Lipton tea and sugar- forms part of the foundation’s corporate social responsibility to the needy in society, especially during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The items were presented to the beneficiaries by the Islamic Council for Development and Humanitarian Services, a partner organisation in Ghana
Besides, the Foundation is supplying cooked food package on daily basis for individual Muslims to break their fast (Iftar), after the dawn to dusk fasting.
Sheikh Mustapha Ibrahim, the Chairman of ICODEHS told The Ghanaian Times that the annual Ramadan food package embodies the spirit of sharing and caring for others, to strengthen community ties among the Muslims, and help to alleviate hardship facing some needy Muslims community.
“Every year the foundation help families, so this year we are doing similar gestures to help the Muslim community observe the fasting without much challenges,” he said.
Sheikh Ibrahim used the opportunity to appeal to individuals and organisation to help the poor and needy in society saying “Ramadan is a month of giving, sharing and caring, if you give Allah rewards you with more.”
Sheikh Ibrahim, who is also the President of the Mohammed VI Foundation for African Oulama, explained that the foundation was established in 2015 by the King Mohammed VI of Morocco to promote the values of tolerance in any form and promote intellectual, scientific and cultural activities connected to Islam.
Speaking to The Ghanaian Times, Ikbal Mazizi, Counselor at the Morocco Embassy in Accra, indicated that the food package was to strengthen the bond of friendship between Ghana and Morocco.
“Today we are here to take advantage of this great opportunity in this blessed month of Ramadan to spread love and support to them to observe the fast, it is an initiative of charity to strengthen the good relations between the people and governments of Morocco and Ghana,” she added.
