Monday, April 24 declared public Holiday

The government has declared Monday April 24, 2023 as a public holiday in commemoration of this year’s Eid ul-Fitr celebrations.

The declaration of the day as a public holiday is in line with the section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, (Act 601).

This was contained in a release signed and issued by the Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery and copied to the Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday.

This year the celebration of the Eid ul-Fitr falls on Saturday April 22, 2023 “however in view of the fact that the day falls on a Saturday the President has by executive instrument in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act, 601) declared Monday April 24, 2023 as an additional Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country,” the statement added.

Eid ul-Fitr is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan.
