Musician remanded for illegally possessing ‘wee’
An Accra circuit court last Tuesday remanded a musician for allegedly possessing 18 slabs of compressed dried leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp.
Kwame Wuasi, 24, pleaded not guilty to possessing narcotic drugs without lawful authority, and he will reappear before court on January 13, 2020.
Police Chief Inspector Godfred Asiedu Bampoe told the court presided by Justice Jane Harriet Akweley Quaye, a High Court judge, sitting as an additional Circuit Court judge,that Wuasi resides at Banana Inn, near Dansoman in Accra.
Prosecution said on December 12, 2019, personnel from the Dansoman Divisional Police Command, arrested accused during a swoop at the hideouts of crime suspects in the area.
Chief Insp Bampoe said the police found the 18 slaps of the dried leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp, in his television set.
Prosecution said the accused in his caution statement admitted that the substance was Indian hemp.
Chief Inp Bampoe said Wuasi said one ‘Governor’, his friend, kept the Indian hemp in a room with his (accused) permission but Wuasi failed to lead police to the said friend.
