MWO George Amponsah engages RNCOA executives, calls for unity, patience and confidence in pursuit of fair pension, gratuity computation
A leading member of intakes 95& 96 , Master Warrant Officer, George Amponsah has briefed
executives of the Retired Non-Commissioned Officers Association (RNCOA) on matters concerning
the pursuit of fair pension and gratuity computation for retired soldiers, particularly members of the
1995 and 1996 intake cohort and their over-aged colleagues under C.I. 129.
The engagement was held virtual with RNCOA executives Veteran Kwaku Duah (Founder and President) ,
Veteran George Obeng-Fianko ( Co- Founder & Vice President ) and Surface Warfare Officer -SWO2 Issah Bawre Rtd (
General Secretary ) .
During the virtual meeting on Wednesday, MWO Amponsah emphasised the importance of
calm, patience, discipline and unity among affected personnel as the process continues.
He explained that the matters currently before the court include normal legal
and procedural requirements.
He noted that under Article 88 of the 1992 Constitution the Attorney General was mandated to handle cases involving the State and was therefore,
required to participate in the proceedings.
MWO Amponsah encouraged veterans to remain focused, united and patient, stressing
the need for affected retired soldiers to maintain confidence in the lawful process and avoid actions
that could undermine the collective effort to secure a fair outcome.
Following the briefing, the RNCOA executives commended MWO Amponsah for his
continued efforts to educate, encourage and keep affected retired soldiers informed.
The leadership
urged him to continue promoting calm, discipline and confidence among veterans while the process
continued.
RNCOA reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful and lawful engagement in matters affecting the
welfare of retired Non-Commissioned Officers.
The Association therefore encouraged the 1995/1996
intake, over-aged veterans and all other affected personnel to remain united, hopeful and respectful
of due process.
The RNCOA also urged all retirees to participate fully in the ongoing Controller and Accountant-
General’s Department (CAGD) pension verification process.
It encouraged every
eligible retiree to complete the required verification and cooperate with the established procedures
so that the exercise can be successfully concluded for the benefit of all pensioners.
