Naa Prof. Delle Initiates Process to Establish Nandom Dermatology University

Naa Professor Edmund N. Delle Chiir VIII, Founder and President of Rabito Clinic, has initiated the process to establish Nandom Dermatology University to address the growing burden of skin diseases in Ghana and the West African region.

Naa Prof. Delle Chiir VIII, who is also the Paramount Chief of the Nandom Traditional Area, explained that establishing a dermatology university in Ghana has been a long-standing dream and a legacy project for Ghana, West Africa, and Africa.

In an interview, he stressed that the Nandom Dermatology University would provide specialised education, training, and research opportunities, helping build a cadre of skilled dermatologists and healthcare professionals equipped to tackle skin health challenges.

Planned to be established in Nandom in the Upper West Region, the university aims to serve as a premier institution for dermatological education, research, and patient care, advancing skin health and wellness in Ghana and beyond.

Naa Prof. Delle highlighted that the university would improve skin health outcomes by offering high-quality education, training, and research in dermatology. A team of experts has been constituted to conduct feasibility studies, identify the appropriate site in Nandom, mobilise resources, and establish collaborations with potential individuals and institutions.

An accomplished and globally acclaimed dermatologist, Naa Prof. Delle noted that the Nandom Dermatology University would be a landmark contribution to healthcare in Africa. The university plans to offer bachelor’s degrees in dermatology or related fields, as well as master’s and doctoral programs with specialisations in dermatopathology, dermatosurgery, and paediatric dermatology.

Additionally, the university will offer continuing professional development through short courses, workshops, conferences for healthcare professionals, and certificate programs in specific dermatology areas, such as skin cancer diagnosis and treatment.
