NDC Constituency Chairman supports Osu Government Maternity Home
The Klottey Korle Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Benjamin Neequaye Kotey has donated a 50 inch plasma television worth thousands of cedis to Osu Government Maternity Home in Accra.
The donation was to afford the Maternity Home a monitor to teach, educate and inform pregnant women about their nutrition, labor and delivery.
Presenting the items, Mr Kotey said, the gesture formed part of his corporate social responsibility to support the constituents in developmental projects.
He said the party had a lot in stock for the constituency, saying the television set would complement other equipment in the Maternity Home to boost health delivery in the constituency.
“The television set will support the Home to teach pregnant women on modern pregnancy methods and help boost insight on good nutrition, adequate rest, good hygiene and women’s health,” he added.
Mr Kotey who doubles as the assembly member for Osu Doku North advised the pregnant women to eat well, exercise to keep fit, take their medication and also check their blood pressure regularly.
The facility manager of the Maternity Home, Ms Alice Akuorkor Ofoli who received the item on behalf of the Home expressed gratitude to the chairman for the gesture and promised to put it to good use to serve the purpose in which it was provided.
“This has come at the right time and will help support the Home in its healthcare delivery,” she added.
She said over the years, management of the Osu Maternity Home had been soliciting funds to replace worn out hospital equipment and provide advanced medical gadgets to improve on health delivery to the people, with little success.
She called on corporate organisations and individuals to support the Maternity Home to provide better healthcare services to the people in and around the Osu community.
