New Juabeng South MCE presents 800 furniture to Education Directorate
The New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive Officer (MCE), Mr Isaac Appaw-Gyasi, yesterday presented 800 furniture to the education directorate for further distribution to schools in the municipality.
The furniture, made up of 500 dual and 300 mono desks and 30 teacher tables and chairs are to be distributed to 23 schools.
Presenting the items, Mr Appaw-Gyasi said improving education in the municipality was a priority to the assembly, adding that the gesture was to improve education and provide better environment for the children to study.
“Providing a conducive environment for them to learn will go a long way to positively affect their academics and I am sure it would result in our children coming out with good grades,” he said.
He added that it was unfortunate to have some schools still studying without adequate furniture or infrastructure and added that the assembly would allocate funds to curb the challenge.
Mr Appaw- Gyasi revealed that an audit would be conducted on school infrastructure to enable the assembly to ascertain the extent of challenges and be able to tackle it to improve education in the municipality.
He tasked the schools to ensure proper maintenance of the furniture “so that it will last and we will be able to help other schools.”
Receiving them, the Director of Education and Municipal Head of Planning and Statistics at the Ghana Education Service, Ms Benedicta Addo, thanked the assembly for the gesture and assured it of judicious use of the items.
She promised to ensure proper maintenance of the furniture to enable them last for future generations.
