New Norkor Oyoko family head calls for unity, accountability
The newly enstooled Ebusuapanyin of the Norkor Oyoko Family at Sakyikrom in the Eastern Region, Mr Samuel Boadu Dankwa, has urged members to close ranks, remain accountable and work together to advance the welfare of the family.
He stressed the need for members to place the collective interest above individual gains, explaining that truthfulness, transparency and effective communication were key to sustaining peace, resolving disputes and driving long-term development.
Mr Dankwa made the call in an exclusive interview with *The Ghanaian Times* yesterday, shortly after his enstoolment. He succeeds the late Sampson Wilson Yaw Krow.
Currently a Technical Officer at the Cocoa Health and Extension Division (CHED) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Mr Dankwa expressed gratitude to the family for the confidence reposed in him.
He said he viewed his new role as a call to serve with humility, fairness and dedication, and pledged to lead a transparent and inclusive administration that would address the concerns of all members through consultation and dialogue.
Outlining his vision, Mr Dankwa proposed the construction of a family house to serve as a permanent venue for meetings, funerals and other important gatherings.
He also advocated investment in a family-owned transport business and other ventures to create jobs for the youth and generate income to support long-term development.
On challenges confronting the family, he identified encroachment on family lands as a major concern, noting that it had hindered growth and deprived the family of valuable resources.
He said steps were being taken to address the issue through lawful means and in collaboration with the appropriate authorities to safeguard the family’s heritage.
Mr Dankwa assured members that all matters affecting the family would be handled collectively, with decisions taken in the best interest of all.
He further advised family heads and elders to remain truthful, open and accountable, cautioning that dishonesty and favouritism often bred mistrust and division.
