Nkwanta South MCE assures support for education

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly, Mr Bright Lenwah, has assured Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in the municipality of the assembly’s continuous support for their education.
He said the assembly would not hesitate to provide additional funding for their secondary education if they excelled in the ongoing examination.
Mr Lenwah made the promise when he visited a number of examination centres in the municipality to monitor how the students were doing on the first day of the examination.
He said the funding would be offered to students who passed with single-digit aggregates, and would go to support them purchase items on their prospectus as a complement to the Free Senior High School policy.
The MCE said it was his hope that the decision to introduce the funding package for BECE candidates would spur them on and serve as motivation for them to give out their best in the ongoing examination.
Mr Lenwah used the occasion to congratulate the students for having come this far in their education, stressing that “what you have achieved is as a result of your hard work, commitment and God’s blessings”.
The MCE advised the youngsters to take the examination with all the seriousness it deserves, adding it’s an important milestone in their lives.
He also asked them to desist from all forms of examination malpractices because a single infraction of the rules and regulations could negatively affect them for the rest of their lives.
He, therefore, tasked the police to deal with all intruders and unwanted persons that may attempt to cause trouble during and after the examination in the municipality.
In all a total of 1,982 students are taking part in the examination in the municipality, out of which 1, 034 are girls with the remaining 948 being boys.
