The National Labour Commission (NLC) has summoned the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG), the Judicial Service and the Ministry of Finance over claims of unpaid salary arrears raised by the Association.
The summons follows JUSAG’s complaint of unpaid eight months’ salary arrears covering the period from January to August 2025, which prompted the Commission to intervene and call for a hearing to resolve the matter.
The statement, signed by the Acting Executive Secretary of the Commission, Dr Bernice A Welbeck, and shared with The Ghanaian Times, said the Commission had written to the Judicial Secretary and the Ministry of Finance to provide updates on the status of the workers’ demands within three working days.
It added that in exercise of its powers under Section 139 of the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651), the Commission had summoned the parties JUSAG, the Judicial Service and the Ministry of Finance to appear before it on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 2.00 pm for a hearing of the issues in dispute.
The statement further advised the Association to stay any intended actions and appear as scheduled for the hearing.
