NPP outlines roadmap, fees for internal elections

THE New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the rules and timelines for its upcoming internal elections, which will select executives from the polling station level through to the national leadership.
The party has also released nomination fees for the various positions as part of its internal democratic process.
Addressing a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, the NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, said the regulations guiding the elections were in accordance with Article 18 and other provisions of the party’s constitution.
He explained that the registration of members would take place from March 1 to 31, 2026, followed by data entry from April 1 to April 10. Verification of registered members will then be conducted between April 14 and April 16.
Mr Frimpong said the internal elections would begin at the polling station level, with nominations opening from April 20 to April 24. Vetting of aspirants will be held from April 25 to April 30, while appeals will be received from May 1 to May 4.
“The notice of poll will be from May 6 to May 9, 2026. The elections of the polling station executives will be from May 10 to 16, 2026,” he stated.
He added that data entry and validation for the polling station executives’ album would take place between April 17 and April 21.
The party will then proceed to the electoral area executive elections. Nominations will open from May 23 to May 25, vetting will be conducted from May 26 to May 31, and appeals heard from June 1 to June 4. Notices of poll will be issued from June 5 to June 8, with elections scheduled for June 10 to June 15.
“In all these activities, the responsible office will be the constituency executive committee and the regional steering committee, with oversight responsibility by the national secretariat,” he explained.
For constituency executive elections, nominations will open from June 22 to June 24, vetting will take place from June 25 to June 27, and appeals will be heard from June 28 to June 30. Notices of poll will be issued from July 2 to July 5, with elections slated for July 11 and July 12.
Data entry of the constituency album will follow from July 13 to July 26, 2026.
Mr Frimpong also announced nomination fees for national positions: GH¢50,000 for National Chairman; GH¢30,000 for Vice-Chairpersons; GH¢25,000 for General Secretary; GH¢10,000 for other positions; and GH¢8,000 for special ranks including Nasara, Women’s Organiser, Youth Organiser and Persons with Disability.
He expressed confidence that the outlined processes would ensure transparency, fairness and broad participation in the party’s internal democratic exercise.
