NPP sacks Boniface Saddique, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, 2 others for breach of party constitution

The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has sacked four of its members for publicly endorsing and campaigning for Alan Kyerematen, who resigned from the party on September 25, after the super delegates conference.
They are Hopeson Adorye, former NPP parliamentary candidate of Kpone Katamanso; Yaw Buaben Asamoa, former NPP Director of Communications; Nana Ohene Ntow, former NPP General Secretary and Boniface Abubakar Saddique, former Minister of Inner cities and Zongo Development and Member of Parliament (MP) of Madina.
Mr Kyerematen is contesting the 2024 general elections as the founder of the Movement for Change (MFC).

In a press statement signed and issued by the General Secretary of the NPP in Accra, yesterday, Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong, said the four had forfeited their membership of the party for their flagrant breach of the Party’s Constitution, particularly Articles 3(5) (A)(4) and 3(9)(1).
“Article 3(9) (I) of the Constitution provides that “a member of the party who stands as an independent candidate against the officially elected member of the party or who joins or declares his or her support for another political party, or for an independent candidate when the party has sponsored a candidate in a general or by-election automatically forfeits his or her membership of the party,” it said.
It added that, Article 3(5) (A) (4) of the NPP Constitution enjoined all members of the party to abide by and publicly uphold the decisions of the party.
“In line with these constitutional provisions, it is the view of the NPP that Hopeson Adorye, Nana Ohene Ntow, Boniface Abubakar Saddique and Yaw Buaben Asamoa have automatically forfeited their membership of the party.
They are, therefore, no longer members of the party,” it said.
The statement entreated its members to remain true to their duties, and called on them to prioritise the party’s focus on uniting its ranks and rally the support of Ghanaians to make history by winning the 2024 general elections.
It would be recalled that Mr Kyerematen in a shocking turn of events, resigned from the NPP on September 25, after he emerged third in the party’s super delegates conference organised on August 26, for its presidential hopefuls.
He later founded the Movement for Change, which according to him, was inspired by overwhelming demand by Ghanaians from all walks for change and desire to transform Ghana into a prosperous united, and peaceful nation.
