Police arrest 2 over alleged lynching at Daboya
The Savannah Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged lynching of a young man at Daboya in the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region.
The suspects have been identified as 25-year-old Adjei Abdulai, a carpenter, and 22-year-old Issah Mahama, a student.
Their arrests followed investigations into the incident, which was captured in a video circulating on social media.
According to preliminary investigations, the victim, identified as Yibonwura, was allegedly attacked and severely assaulted after he was accused of stealing sheanuts.
The victim subsequently died from injuries sustained during the assault.
In a press release signed by the Savannah Regional Police Commander, DCOP David K. Amoako, the Police said the two suspects were in custody assisting with investigations.
The command said a manhunt was also underway for a third suspect who was allegedly involved in the incident but was currently at large.
It added that investigations were ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that all persons connected to the alleged crime were brought to justice.
The Police Command urged members of the public with information that could assist the investigation to provide it to the Police.
