Police arrests 5 in connection with murder of John Abban

The Western Regional Police Command has arrested five more suspects in connection with the murder of John Abban at Asemkor in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region.
The suspects were arrested at their hideouts at various locations within the region, bringing the total number to 10 so far, the Head, Police Public Affairs Unit, Western Region, Superintendent of Police Olivia E. T. Adiku, stated in a release copied to The Ghanaian Times yesterday.
She said on Thursday, October 23, suspect Kwabena Asirifi, aged 50, was arrested at his hideout at Ampataano community, near Asemkor.
Again, on Friday, October 24, the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate arrested three more suspects, namely James Eshun alias Abeiku, aged 25, Joseph Aidoo alias Moree, aged 45, and Stephen Nyame alias Joe, aged 18, at Abuesi within the Shama District.
Earlier, on October 18, Kwabena Musah, aged 55, was arrested at Ahuntumano near Butre within the Ahanta West Municipality, Supt. Adiku told The Ghanaian Times.
Meanwhile, Musah, together with Kennedy Abor alias Abongo, aged 30, Kojo Attah Panyi, aged 20, Joseph Basses, aged 30, Abraham Cudjoe alias Yalle, aged 39, and Ekow Painstil, aged 45, who were arrested on October 15 and 21 respectively, were put before the Takoradi District Court last week.
They were remanded into police custody to reappear on October 30, she said.
Supt. Adiku also recalled that the deceased, John Abban, a brother of the chief of Butre and Asemkor, was attacked and murdered on October 6 at Asemkor following a chieftaincy dispute.
The suspects fled the town and went into hiding after the murder, she reported, adding that, “Butre and Asemkor is calm.”
