Congratulatory messages continue to pour in from across the globe to Mr John Dramani Mahama after he was declared by the Electoral Commission as Ghana’s President-elect after last Saturday’s general election.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated President-elect, John Dramani Mahama on his decisive victory in the just-ended presidential election.
In a statement issued by the Director of Communications at the Office of the President, Eugene Arhin, President Akufo-Addo expressed his commitment to ensure smooth transition of power on January 7, 2025.
He further congratulated the EC and Ghanaians for a successful election.
He has invited Mr Mahama for a meeting scheduled for December 11 at the Jubilee House to commence the transition process.
The President remains committed to principles of good governance and a peaceful transition to strengthen Ghana’s reputation of democracy in Africa.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Kingsford Bagbin, has congratulated the former President Mahama on his victory in the December 7 elections.
According to his Facebook post, “Ghanaians have courageously and resoundingly reset the presidency to reset the nation.”
In his post he encouraged Mahama that the God almighty who brought him back will be with him in this tough time of our nation being at its lowest point.
President Samia Suluhu Alhassan of Tanzania in her X post expressed her heartfelt congratulations to Ghana’s President-elect, John Dramani Mahama.
In her tweet, she stated that, “I am looking forward to working together, to strengthen our bilateral relations for the benefit of the people of Tanzania and Ghana.”
Member of Parliament (MP) for the North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has also extended his congratulatory message to John Dramani Mahama.
He made this statement in his X post, he highlighted that Mahama’s victory must rank highly as the greatest political comeback of all time with over 1.6 million votes margin.
“I have no doubt that your government will be different, incorruptible, transformational and pursue accountability with “Operation-Recover-All-Loot.”
The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Leonardo Santos Simão, has also congratulated the People of Ghana on the holding of peaceful, orderly, and successful presidential and parliamentary elections.
The sense of responsibility demonstrated by all stakeholders, and the commitment of all the candidates, and leaders of political parties to ensuring that peace and security prevail during the entire electoral process, is once more a significant step towards consolidating the country’s democratic achievements, which will be cited as a model of political maturity and pragmatism.
The Special Representative commended Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for his exemplary and gracious concession and called on Ghanaians to unite behind the President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, as Ghana continues to serve as an inspiration for the rising tide of democracy throughout the African continent.
The United Nations, in coordination with regional partners, will continue to support the people of Ghana towards consolidating democracy and prosperity.
The Pan African Parliament (PAP) has extended warm congratulations to Ghana’s President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, on his decisive victory in the country’s presidential elections.
In a statement, the PAP acknowledged Mr Mahama’s distinguished ties with the continental body, having been a former member of the legislature. His re-election to a second term, the PAP noted, reflects both the people of Ghana’s trust in his proven leadership and their positive memories of his earlier tenure.
The PAP also commended Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, for prioritising national interest by graciously conceding defeat and congratulating Mr Mahama, indicating Ghana’s commitment to democracy.
The Pan African Parliament expressed its commitment to strengthening ties with Ghana under President Mahama’s leadership, celebrating the nation as a beacon of democracy on the continent.
