Public cautioned against household visits under pretext of census

The public have been cautioned not to allow persons into their homes under the pretext of collecting data for the 2021 Population and Housing Census (PHC) since the exercise has officially ended.

It said following the release of the preliminary results of the Census on September 22, 2021, Field Officers were no longer visiting households and institutions to collection information on residents.

The Ghana Statistical Service  (GSS) in statement issued in Accra yesterday , signed by the Director of Censuses and Survey Organisation, Mrs Abena Osei-Akoto,  said its attention had been drawn to impersonators who were visiting some   households   claiming to be Census Officials.

According to the GSS,   all official 2021 PHC paraphernalia for Field Officers including the blue Census T-Shirts, blue census reflective jackets, white census caps and Identity Cards used during the data collection of the for census were no longer valid for official use.

It  expressed appreciation to all residents of Ghana for their participation in the 2021 PHC.

“GSS once again expresses its appreciation to the public for the kind support and co-operation in achieving the foals of this important national exercise,” the statement concluded.
