Qatar Charity builds model village, constructing new office complex

 Qatar Charity Foun­dation, has undertaken two landmark projects, to help it fulfil its mission of improving the welfare of the vulnerable, and to promote development in Ghana.

The move is also to set the stage for the implantation of future projects and continuous part­nership with local communities towards development.

The Qatar Charity, an interna­tional non-governmental organisa­tion (NGO), inaugurated the Dar El Salam Model Village in Kade­waso, Eastern Region, to support socio-economic activities in the local community.

The settlement has a school block for students from kindergar­ten to junior high school, a clinic, a mosque, residences for officers, teachers, nurses, and a 120 capacity two-story orphanage.

The village also has water and sanitation facilities, and in come-generating ventures, such as animal farm, to ensure the project’s sustainability.

Mr Mohammad Hassan, repre­senting Mr Ishaq Akyena Bekoe, who donated land for the con­struction of the village, expressed joy at the project’s successful com­pletion, despite challenges encoun­tered by implementers during land acquisition stage.

Mr Hasan Owda, Qatar Charity’s Country Director, said construct­ing the village named “Dar El Salam,” or “The Land of Peace,” was to enhance the quality of life of rural and disadvantaged people through a holistic approach that promotes physical, social, econom­ic and spiritual growth.

He praised the Qatar delegation, including Mr Abdul Aziz Jasim Hejji and Ms Fawzyya Ishaq, in charge of sponsorship mobilisa­tion, for their contributions to the projects.

The District Coordinating Director of Atiwa East, Mr Shakel Mahmud, called for the proper management of the model village, to ensure its long-term success.

Nana Osaberima Osei Duah II, Chief of Kadewaso, praised the partnership between Qatar Charity and the local community, which made the Dar El Salam Model Village a reality.

He expressed hope for more projects, pledging additional 22 acres of land for the construction of a senior high school and a nurs­ing training college.

The Chief and the Qatar delega­tion, inaugurated the village.

In a related development, the NGO broke ground for the con­struction of a new office complex at the Airport Bypass, in Accra.

Mr Hasan Ali Owda, Country Director of Qatar Charity, in Gha­na, said the office complex if com­pleted would facilitate the NGO’s activities, particularly the execution of projects across the country.

Dr Hakeem Wemah, who released land for the project, expressed his desire to contribute to Qatar Charity’s noble mission in Ghana, adding that the strategic location and high value of the land made it an ideal site for the NGO’s headquarters.

Mr Abdul Aziz Jasim Hejji, International Operations Director of Qatar Charity, expressed his gratitude to Dr Wemah and other stakeholders, for contributing towards the project.

He reaffirmed the NGO’s com­mitment to supporting Ghana’s development agenda, and aiding the vulnerable.

The event was attended by nota­ble figures, including the Minister of Information, Fatima Abubakar, MP for Tamale Central Constitu­ency, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammad, representatives from the Office of the Vice President, Chairman of the Ghana Hajj Board, Alhaji Ben Abdallah Banda, MP for Lawra Constituency, Bede Zieding, and Gizella Tetteh Agbotui, MP for Awutu Senya West Constituency. – GNA
