Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer replaces Inaki for Madagascar qualifier

Black Stars Head, Coach Chris Hugh­ton, has invited Rans­ford-Yeboah Königs­dörffer to replace Inaki Williams who has been ruled out of the upcom­ing AFCON qualifying match against Madagas­car.

The Athletic Bilbao forward who was named in Ghana’s squad for the qualifier has been ruled out with an injury to his right knee.

“Since a few weeks, I’m playing with pain in my right knee. I’ve decided to play until the end of the season, but talking with the medical services, we’ve decided to stop and solve the problem to stay 100% at the preseason.

“This decision wasn’t easy to take because I won’t be able to stay with my national team, Ghana, the next meeting.

He said “I want to say that I am fully committed and I will come back with the Black Stars if the coach deems it appropri­ate in his next calls.

“Thank you for your support.” Inaki stated in a statement on Monday.

Königsdörffer will join the squad in Accra when they commence camping on June 12 ahead of the qualifier.

The Black Stars will travel to Madagascar for the match which has been scheduled for June 18, 2023. — GFA
