Registrar of Companies gets new boss

Mrs Maame Saama Peprah has taken over duty as the Acting Registrar of Companies (ROC), succeeding the outgoing Registrar of Companies, Mrs Jemima M. Oware, whose tenure spanned from March 2022 to February 2025.

In a handing over ceremony held in Accra on Monday, Mrs Oware expressed her gratitude to the management of the ORC for their cooperation and support which helped to chalk significant successes during her tenure as Registrar.

She emphasised the importance of providing a conducive environment for the new Registrar to thrive, urging management to offer the necessary resources, guidance, and support to enable her to settle into her role seamlessly.

Additionally Mrs Oware noted that the new Registrar’s success would not only be a reflection of her individual efforts, but also a testament to the institution’s commitment to excellence.

Therefore, she said it was crucial that management provided her with the necessary tools, training, and autonomy to excel in her position.

“By doing so, the institution would be able to build on the gains made during my tenure in office while also positioning itself for even greater success in the future,” Mrs Oware underscored.

She assured her successor of her unwavering commitment to providing support and guidance whenever needed, emphasizing that her door would always be open for consultation and advice.

To foster this spirit of collaboration, the outgoing Registrar called for regular annual engagement between the Registrar and directorates, emphasising the importance of collaboration and teamwork.

These engagements, Mrs Oware suggested, would provide a platform for the Registrar to share her vision and goals, while also affording the directorates an opportunity to provide feedback, share their concerns, and better understand the work ahead.

Mrs Peprah expressed her appreciation to management for the warm reception accorded her and also the cordiality from her predecessor.

She called for teamwork and collaboration at every level with management and other staff, in order to better serve the greater interest of the organisation.

The new Registrar indicated her readiness to tap into the rich expertise and experience of Mrs Oware in order to build upon the legacy she leaves behind at the organisation, and expressed her gratitude to the former ROC for her pledge to support in that regard.

Mrs Peprah is a seasoned legal and corporate governance professional with extensive expertise in corporate law, regulatory compliance and strategic leadership.

Her professional career includes pivotal roles in both the public and private sectors, having contributed her expertise to esteemed institutions such as Cenpower Generation Ltd., LawTrustCompany, the Attorney-General’s Department, and the Legal Aid Board.

Similarly, Mr Benjamin Zigorsh-Nyakpenu also assumed office as the First Deputy Registrar of Companies on March 21.

As First Deputy Registrar, Mr Zigorsh-Nyakpenu will work closely with the Registrar to oversee the day-to-day operations of the office, ensure compliance with corporate regulations, and help implement new strategies aimed at improving the mandate of the ORC.
