Sadaqat Train Foundation constructs GH¢50,000 Mosque at Kaanfehiyili
Sadaqat Train Foundation, a charity organisation, has constructed a mosque at a cost of GH¢50,000 for the Kaanfehiyili community in the Tolon District of the Northern Region.
Unity Organisation based in Denmark, provided funding to the foundation for the construction of the 200-capacity house of worship for the predominantly Muslim community.
The foundation had earlier constructed a similar one for the neigbouring Gbalcherayili community.
Handing over the mosque to the Imam of the community last Saturday, the Ameer of Sadaqa Train Northern Sector, Dr Alhassan Ahmed, admonished the community to take very good care of it and keep the Masjid and its surrounding area clean at all times.
The team held a health talk on Hepatitis B and COVID-19, to sensitise the community on the prevention and control of the diseases.
Dr Awudu Amadu, a Medical Laboratory Scientist at Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) explained that the abdominal distension caused by Hepatitis B was not due to black magic, and urged them to report to nearby health facilities for early diagnoses and management.
For his part, Dr Mundashiru Yahaya, a Medical Officer at TTH, educated the community on the modes of transmission of the deadly COVID-19 and the protective measures against it.
He encouraged them to avoid hand shaking, practice frequent hand washing and wear nose masks when leaving home among others. The symptoms of COVID-19 were also mentioned. Nose masks were donated to the members of the community.
A medical screening exercise was carried out to test the random blood sugar, blood pressure and Hepatitis B status of the community members free of charge, and also a session on purification of worship for Allah alone.
Dr Hafiz Mankaama, a Medical Laboratory Scientist at the Tamale Teaching Hospital who is also the deputy Imam of Sadaqa Train, entreated the community to be patient and steadfast when trials came their way, and to pray to Allah and be charitable.
The Chief of Kaanfehiyili, Naa Yahaya Nbelayim, was exceedingly pleased with the positive impact Sadaqa Train had made in his village and appealed to other organisations and government to come to their aid with electricity and water.
The foundation donated used clothes, shoes, school bags to the community and urged parents to enroll their children and retain them in school.
