Salis Amina Jerry Wins Top Honours at 2024 Scouts and Guides Awards

Salis Amina Jerry has been crowned the overall Best Scout and Guide 2024 at a ceremony organised by the Scouts and Guides Fellowship Ghana (SGF-Gh) to celebrate outstanding contributions to its Ghana Walk for Peace campaign.
As part of her prize, Salis will embark on an educational trip to the Netherlands next year, sponsored by Curiosity Learning Ghana, an organisation dedicated to providing international learning opportunities for young Scouts.

The trip is aimed at broadening her horizons and enhancing her leadership potential.
The 2024 Ghana Walk for Peace, as part of the Fellowship’s Peace Gathering 2024, brought together over 5,000 participants who walked from the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi to the Ga Mantse Palace in Accra for seven days, spreading messages of peace in communities along the route.
The walk culminated in the symbolic presentation of a Peace Torch from Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II.
Dr Albert Tetteh Botchway, a board Chairman of SGF-Gh, praised Salis and other awardees for their dedication and commitment.
“The youth have shown extraordinary patriotism. We aim to train 5,000 more young people next year at a new ultra-modern centre we plan to build,” he revealed, adding that the facility would prepare youth to become patriotic citizens who contribute to national development.
However, Dr Botchway lamented the lack of governmental support, which has exacerbated the organisation’s financial challenges. He stressed the need for more resources to expand SGF-Gh’s training programmes.
Other awardees included William Baah, who won Best Youth Organiser and Best Scout and Guide Trainer, and several others recognised across categories such as Best Region, Best Volunteers, Best Hikers, and Best Tent Pitcher.
SGF-Gh President, Mr Andrew Botchwey, appealed to the government and corporate entities to support the Fellowship’s initiatives. “With government assistance, we can reach our goals of fostering a constructive and patriotic society,” he stated.
Sponsors, including Stanbic Bank, Living Stream International, COA Research and Manufacturing Company Limited and local media houses, received citations of appreciation for their contributions to the event.
The Ghana Walk for Peace has reaffirmed SGF-Gh’s commitment to empowering young leaders while promoting unity and patriotism in Ghana.
