Sampson Ventures win 2nd EGL games

The second edition of the Electroland Ghana Limited (EGL) dealers football tournament, ended on Saturday, in Accra, with Sampson Ventures emerging winners.

The team, from Ho in the Volta region, beat their opponents, Melcom Ghana, 2-1, in the game which came off at the Dzorwulu Astro Turf.

Sampson Ventures scored all two goals in the first half. Team Melcom pulled one back in the second half but they could not find the net again before the final whistle.

Nyadroh Obed, Captain of Sampson Ventures was impressed with the team’s performance and said they would defend the title next year.

Nana Akwesi Hinneh, Team Manager of the Melcom group, praised their opponent for giving them a tough match, saying they would work harder to redeem their image in the next edition.

Team Melcom received the fair play award, while other outstanding players were recognised.  Each of the finalists took home a brand new Nasco moblie handset.

Adiza Ibrahim Sadiq, Marketing Manager, EGL, said that the tournament was to foster close and cordial relationship between Electroland and its partners.

“We have been doing business all along and we thought we should come together to socialise and have fun outside from the working environment,” she said.

“Subsequent editions would be bigger. We intend to introduce a fundraising exercise to support the less privileged. It would be Electroland and its authorised dealers raising funds for the needy in society,” she added.

She urged other corporate bodies to continue organising similar sporting events. Four other teams participated in the tournament. They included, Get4less, Karrroum Travel and Tour, and Robsied Ventures.
