Samsung unveils new Galaxy Z foldable smartphones with AI features

Samsung Electronics has unveiled its latest Galaxy Z foldable smartphone lineup, introducing three new devices aimed at making foldable technology more accessible while strengthening its push into artificial intelligence (AI)-powered mobile experiences.
The new range comprises the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip8, each designed to meet different consumer needs, from entertainment and productivity to everyday convenience.
According to Samsung, the Galaxy Z Fold8 has been redesigned to provide a more natural foldable experience, enabling users to switch seamlessly between the cover screen for quick tasks and the larger inner display for reading, gaming and watching videos.
Weighing 201 grammes, the Fold8 is the lightest Galaxy Z Fold device to date. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy and features a 4,800mAh battery for extended use.
Samsung said the device also introduces its new Flex Titanium display structure, which enhances durability while reducing the visibility of the screen crease over time. The display offers up to 3,000 nits of brightness, making it easier to use outdoors.
For users seeking greater productivity, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, describing it as its most advanced foldable smartphone yet.
The device features an eight-inch main display for multitasking and content creation, alongside an advanced camera system and enhanced cooling technology to support demanding workloads. Measuring 4.1 millimetres when unfolded and weighing 215 grammes, Samsung said it is its slimmest Fold model so far.
The Galaxy Z Flip8 has been designed for users who value portability and self-expression, offering quicker access to information and shortcuts through its AI-powered FlexWindow.
Samsung said artificial intelligence plays a central role across the new devices, with Galaxy AI optimised for each form factor to deliver more personalised and proactive experiences. The smartphones also integrate Google’s Gemini Intelligence, enabling users to complete tasks across different applications with fewer steps while maintaining greater transparency, privacy and user control.
The Chief Executive Officer, President and Head of Samsung Electronics’ Device eXperience Division, TM Roh, said the company was entering a new phase in mobile technology.
“As AI becomes more agentic, mobile devices will become the most personal entry point to experiences that understand and adapt to each user,” he said.
“By setting a new standard for foldables, we are once again advancing the premium mobile experience and opening the next era of intelligence to more people,” Mr Roh stated.
