Savannah Immigration Commander strengthens ties with regional leaders

The Savannah Regional Immigration Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Immigration (DCOI) Lawrence Agyei Agyapong, has paid a courtesy visit to the Regional Minister, Salisu Be-Awuribe Issifu, to discuss strengthening security operations and logistical support for the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) in the region.

The visit provided an opportunity for DCOI Agyapong to formally introduce himself and explore ways to enhance security management across the region.

The Regional Minister commended the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) for effectively managing the region’s boundaries with Côte d’Ivoire and contributing to internal security.

He assured the commitment of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) to supporting the command with all necessary assistance.

In a similar engagement with the West Gonja Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Yakubu Yussif Castro, discussions focused on the need for residential and office accommodation, and logistical support to improve GIS operations within the municipality. Hon. Castro praised the command’s efforts and pledged to work closely with the Service to ensure local safety.

DCOI Agyapong’s visits form part of a broader stakeholder engagement and familiarisation tour aimed at strengthening partnerships, mobilising resources, and enhancing the enforcement of migration laws in the interest of national security and the safety of residents in the Savannah Region.

A statement issued in Accra yesterday by the head of Public Affairs of the GIS, Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI), Michael Amoako-Atta, and copied to The Ghanaian Times has said.
