SDA Church swears in leaders for new Union Mission

THE South East Ghana Union Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist has officially inducted its pioneering leaders (officers and directors) to steer the affairs of the union.
The establishment of the new Union Mission is expected to strengthen church administration, enhance evangelism efforts, and improve coordination of activities within its jurisdiction.
The newly inaugurated officers and directors have five years to deliver their mandate across selected regions in the country.
The ceremony, which followed a three-day inaugural session held at Oyibi on Saturday, brought together clergy, delegates, and members of the Church to witness the historic transition.
In his inaugural address, Pastor Duodu assured that he would create conducive environment for holistic church growth. He emphasised the need for a comprehensive approach that empowers members spiritually, mentally, physically, and financially. According to him, strengthening members in all aspects of life will ultimately expand the Church’s influence and effectiveness.
The Communication Director of the South East Ghana Union Mission, Pastor Dr Samuel Dorgbetor, also added his voice, highlighting the importance of unity, effective communication, and member engagement in achieving the union’s mission.
The South West Ghana Union Mission was carved out of the Southern Ghana Union Conference, a move voted on in October 2025 at the General Conference Annual Council in the USA.
The union oversees six administrative units: Meridian Ghana, East Ghana, Diamond Field Ghana, and Eastern View Conferences, along with the Oti and Volta Ghana Missions. These units cover the political regions of Greater Accra, Volta, Oti, and the Eastern regions.
The leadership team includes Col (Rtd) Pastor Peter Nyarko Duodu as president, Pastor Nathan Teye Odonkor as Executive Secretary, Dr Isaac Owusu Dankwah as Treasurer, Mrs Victoria Annor as an Associate Treasurer, Pastor Richard Daves as Ministerial Secretary, Pastor Dr Samuel Dorgbetor as Communication Director, Mrs Comfort Owusu Dankwah as Associate Education Director, Lawyer Kofi Ameley in charge of Public and Legal Affairs, Pastor Peter Agyekum, Mrs Mimonte Dorcas Odonkor, and Pastor Nana Kofi Nimako.
With the team’s deep administrative experience, he expressed optimism that the new structure would accelerate growth and deepen the Church’s impact in communities.
