Sekondi-Takoradi Diocese honours Friar Marino Albani with memorial mass

The Catholic Diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi has held a memorial Mass of intercession for the soul of Friar Marino Albani at Christ the King Parish, Effiakuma, in the Western Region.
The Mass was presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Sekondi-Takoradi, Most Rev. John Baptist Attakruh, and attended by the Vicar General, Rev. Fr Francis Kofi Lemmaire; Dean of Takoradi Deanery, Rev. Fr Lawrence Krah; the Provincial Custos, Friar Vitus Mensah; and the host Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Eugene Antwi Boasiako.
Friar Marino, a pioneer Vicar of Christ the King Parish, was born in Spirano, Bergamo, Italy, on September 21, 1946, and died on January 8, 2026, at the age of 79.
He devoted 50 years to priestly ministry, 36 of them in Ghana, serving with humility by preaching salvation, feeding the poor, comforting the sick and aged, fostering Christian unity, and nurturing formators in the House of God.
In Ghana, he served as Parochial Vicar of Christ the King Parish, Effiakuma, from 1980 to 1991, overseeing outstations including Kwesimintsim, Fijai, Ntankoful, Kansaworodo, Anaji and Effia, and later became Parish Priest from 1991 to 2004.
Paying tribute, Bishop Attakruh described Friar Marino as “a foundational pillar who left a lasting mark on the hearts of the faithful,” noting that his ministry embodied unwavering dedication and the true Franciscan spirit of humble service.
In his homily, Rev. Fr Boasiako reflected on the Parable of the Talents, urging the faithful to use their God-given gifts, warning that inaction is detrimental, and reminding them that there is no pension in the House of God.
