Skolars extend lead in Rugby League Men’s 13’s Championship

Skolars Rugby League Club extended their unbeaten run in the ongoing Men’s 13’s Championship with a comfortable 40–4 victory over UG Titans in their match day four game played at the University of Ghana Rugby Stadium on Sunday.
It was the debutant, Titans, who struck first, capitalising on two penalty opportunities converted by Farouk Umar. However, Skolars quickly responded with a try from Emmanuel Acheampong, converted by Chris Da-Gama, which gave them a 6–4 lead at the break.
The second half was dominated by Skolars, as Acheampong crossed again, with Seth Bruce, Clement Donkor, Elvis Adjetey, and Riddick Alibah all getting on the score sheet. Da-Gama added four more conversions, missing only once, as Skolars showcased both precision and power to remain at the top of the table with 9 points, while the Titans remained winless.
In the day’s other game, Accra Panthers ended the unbeaten streak of the Dragons with a 30–12 victory, breaking a string of consecutive defeats.
The Panthers displayed hunger and determination to win, exploding right from the blast of the whistle and scoring four tries through Musbaw Illiyasu—who got a brace—Marwell Amoako, and Adam Marsuu. Darryl Amoatey converted twice to give them the lead.
In the second half, Francis Lawson and Marsuu added to the tally while Amoatey remained perfect with the boot to maintain their lead.
The Dragons managed late tries through Abraham Adjetey and William Pierce-Biney, with Innocent Alartey adding conversions, but it did little to alter the score in their favour.
The win sees the Panthers move to 4th place with three points, keeping their playoff hopes alive.
Dragons drop to 2nd place with four points, ahead of the defending champions, Bulls, only on goal difference.
The league takes a two-week break and will return on June 22 with week five fixtures, where Nungua Tigers will take on Bulls and Skolars will face Dragons.
