Skolars RLFC maintain dominance in rugby league men’s 13s championship

Record winners of the Rugby League Federation Ghana (RLFG) Men’s 13s Championship, Skolars RLFC, recorded a second straight victory in the ongoing league, defeating Panthers 46-10 at the University of Ghana Rugby League Stadium last Sunday.
The thrilling one-sided contest started with Skolars’ Jonathan Adotey crossing for a try in the 6th minute, quickly followed by Chris Da-Gama’s conversion.
John Bless Mensah added a try in the 8th minute, while Seth Mac-Bruce powered over the line twice, scoring in the 12th and 23rd minutes.
Riddick Alibah sealed the first half ’s scoring with a try in the 37th minute, and Chris Da-Gama converted again, leaving Skolars with a 24-0 lead at the break.
Skolars continued their dominance after the break, with Bless Mensah scoring his second try in the 43rd minute, followed by Elikem Kuwornu’s effort four minutes later, with Bless Mensah adding another conversion.
In the 52nd minute, Skolars’ Adotey again found the try line, with Da-Gama securing a successful conversion. Elvis Ayertey contributed another try in the 66th minute, with Da-Gama’s conversion extending the lead further.
Panthers fought back late in the game with tries from Francis Figo Lawson and Jalilu Abdul Yussif in the 68th and 76th minutes, with Darryl Amoatey successfully scoring a conversion a minute later.
Their effort was too little, too late, as Skolars cruised to a commanding victory.
It was a debutant affair in the second game of the day as Dragons RLFC secured a convincing 36-14 victory over the University of Ghana-based Titans RLFC.
Week three will continue on Sunday with University of Ghana Titans taking on Nungua Tigers while Dragons face defending champions Bulls.
