St. Andrews Church wins Lutheran Easter Games
St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Gbawe in Accra, emerged winner of the Annual Easter Fun Games organisedon Monday by the Lutheran Media Ministry Ghana (LMMG) in partnership with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana (ELCG).
The day’s event aimed to strengthen internal evangelism, promote healthy living, and foster unity among Lutheran churches in the Greater Accra region.
It drew attendance from theSt. Pauls Lutheran Church, Kanda, All Saints Lutheran Church, Anyaa, St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Gbawe, St. Peters Lutheran Church, Madina, Calvary Lutheran Church, Ashaiman, Christ Lutheran Church, Seduase, and Trinity Lutheran Church, Tema.
They competed in events such as 100 meter race, 50 meter walk, thread and needle, filling the bottle, musical chairs, sword drill, apple on the string, sack race, ludu, cards,draught, lime and Spoon, eating competition, penalty kicks and Soccer.
The Chairman of the Lutheran Seminary Board, Isaac Owusu-Hemeng,told the TimesSports that the event served as an annual gathering forLutheran churchesin order to entertain themselves, share the word of God, and reinforce internal evangelism efforts.
Additionally, he noted that the programme encourages individuals to prioritise their health by engaging in physical activities that promote fitness and overall well-being.
Addressing concerns about potential distractions from the true essence of Easter, the Director of LMMG, Nicholas Sarkodee Adoo, acknowledged the natural inclination of individuals to veer off course during celebrations, but stressed the importance of staying focused on the message of joy, friendliness, and the eternal life that Jesus Christ brings.
