The Chief Manager of Public Relations and Communications at Ghana Water Limited (GWL), Mr Stanley Martey, has been adjudged Public Sector PR Personality of the Year.
He was crowned at the 14th Marketing World Awards (MWA), earning continental recognition for over two decades of leadership in public communication.
The ceremony, held in Accra, celebrated individuals and organisations whose innovation and strategic excellence are shaping Africa’s communication and marketing landscape.
Mr Martey’s honour reflects his strong influence on public sector communication at a time when trust in state institutions depends on clarity, transparency, and timely engagement.
Organisers described his contribution to Ghana’s water sector as “exemplary and impactful,” noting that his professionalism has strengthened public understanding of GWL’s operations, challenges, and reforms.
Under his leadership, GWL has enhanced its public engagement strategy, improved crisis communication during major water disruptions, and intensified nationwide education on water conservation, billing transparency, and the fight against illegal connections.
His calm and factual communication style has earned him the confidence of journalists, consumers, and key stakeholders.
InstinctWave, producers of the MWAs, commended him for elevating GWL’s public image and championing stakeholder trust, adding that his work demonstrates the essential role of communication in service delivery.
Receiving the award, Mr Martey said the recognition was fulfilling, describing it as an affirmation of the collective effort of the GWL PR team and management. He added that effective communication required teamwork, patience, and dedication, and that his career had always been guided by sincerity and the public interest.
