Submit Accra, Kumasi, T&A stadia to CAF for approval …MoYS directs NSA, GFA

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) has directed the National Sports Authority (NSA) to liaise with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to submit the Accra Sports Stadium, University of Ghana Sports Stadium, and the Tarkwa and Aboso (T&A) Stadium to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for approval.

The move is to make these facilities available for hosting CAF sanctioned matches and competitions by Ghana.

The sector Minister, Mustapha Ussif, gave the directive when he addressed the 30th Ordinary Session of Congress of the GFA at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence atPrampram, yesterday.

It was under the theme ‘winning the 12th man, fixing the fundamentals, and consolidating our gains.’

The directive, he said, was in line with the government’s commitment to sports development, to which there is an ongoing upgrade of existing sports facilities, including the Accra and Kumasi Sports Stadiums, to meet international standards.

He noted that the construction of 10 multi-purpose sports stadiums across various regions will bring world-class facilities closer to the communities, adding that the provision of the Borteyman Sports Complex, will be dedicated to training and educating coaches, athletes, and sports administrators.

That, he stated, will position Ghana as a hub for sports excellence in Africa.

He said as government continues to make strides in developing football infrastructure and supporting teams, it is imperative that all also focus on restoring the integrity of the Ghana League.

“The future of Ghanaian football depends not only on the facilities and resources we provide but also on the transparency, fairness, and professionalism with which the game is managed. We must all work together as GFA, clubs, players, and fans alike to ensure that our league is free from corruption and misconduct.”

He congratulated both the Black Princesses and Black Satellites for their remarkable gold medal achievements at the 13th African Games.

“Dreams FC’s journey to the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup and Medeama FC’s qualification for the group stages of the CAF Champions League are testaments to the growing strength and competitiveness of our domestic football, and your successes underscore the potential of Ghanaian football to not only thrive locally but also excel internationally,” he added.
