Titans of Africa partners institutions to promote oral health
Titans of Africa, a sports firm which secures the futures of African youths through sports, has teamed up with Malahk Academy, a non-profit organisation to educate pupils and staff of the University of Ghana Basic School on oral health.
The day’s event dubbed ‘Enhancing the Smiles of our Future Leaders’ was geared towards ensuring good oral health and staying healthy.
Speaking at the event, President of the National Dental Association of USA, Dr Cheryl Lee-Butler, said “Problems of the mouth can affect the entire body, hence there’s a need to keep the mouth fresh and hydrated always.”
She said foods taken into the body should contain the four vital minerals – Calcium, Phosphorus, Magnesium and Potassium.
Dr Butler urged the children to avoid sweet liquids, be it coffee, tea and junk foods, adding that if these foods were not avoided, it could lead to gum diseases and tooth decay.
President of Titans of Africa, Mohammed Nkosi, said the dental mission will continue to explore all possible venues to support and enhance oral health for children.
He presented hundreds of toothpastes and brushes to the students, adding that the initiative will be replicated in all regions in Ghana.
The Headmistress of the school, Madam Christiana AdwubiArmah, thanked the team for the gesture and assured of the institution’s support for their activities.
