Torgah wins 2025 Genser PGA Championship

Ghana’s top-ranked professional golfer, Vincent Torgah, showed class once again, putting up another spirited performance to win the 2025 Genser PGA Championship played at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi.
Torgah emerged the best out of 44 other regular professionals to claim the title, along with a cash prize of GH¢70,000 from PGA Ghana. He opened the four-day tournament with an impressive 67, positioning himself well despite strong competition from early leaders, including Kwame Ladigi.
He, however, delivered consistent, high-level performances—carding 72, 67, and 68 over the final three rounds—to secure the win ahead of Zimbabwe’s Victor Mapwanya, Nigeria’s Francis Epe, and Ghana’s Kojo Barnni.
This year’s championship, sponsored by Genser Energy and other partners, brought together more than 75 golfers, including participants in the ladies’ and seniors’ categories.
In the ladies’ division, Uganda’s Irene Nakalembe emerged winner after overcoming strong competition from Senegal’s Oumy Dieye and Côte d’Ivoire’s Chantel Bebhibro. Ghana’s representatives, Constance Awuni and Jessica Tei, finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
The seniors’ division produced one of the tournament’s biggest surprises when Anthony Gbenyor dethroned veteran champion Emos Korblah, finishing with scores of 72, 71, and 71 over three days to clinch the title.
At the closing ceremony, Hans De Beer, President of PGA Ghana, praised the golfers for their outstanding performances and encouraged them to maintain their form heading into the New Year. The Vice President, Ahmed Padori, and Tournament Director, Eric Henaku, applauded the golfers, especially the international participants, for their consistent involvement in tournaments held in Ghana.
