Members of the Gospel Light International Church Dakuman branch, known as the Power House Cathedral, has marked Ghana’s 69th Independence Day and Heritage Month with a vibrant Traditional Sunday service aimed at celebrating the country’s diverse cultures.
The event, held on March 8, formed part of activities to promote national identity and deepen appreciation of Ghana’s cultural heritage among the congregation.

Head Pastor, Bishop Dr. Nana Yiadom Boakye, urged members to embrace unity despite cultural differences, stressing that Ghana’s diversity should serve as a source of strength rather than division.
He encouraged the congregation to celebrate their unique backgrounds while remaining united in faith and national pride.
The service featured colourful displays of regional dances, music and traditional attire from various parts of the country, as members showcased customs and traditions that reflected Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.

An exhibition by the Art Center of Ghana also highlighted traditional fashion and textiles, attracting the interest of members who patronised the items on display.
The programme further included an educational session on traditional foods, languages and historical backgrounds from different regions, including the Upper East Region.
Officials from the Ghana Tourism Authority, led by Mr Stanley Ati, engaged members on Ghanaian culture, cuisine, dance and history from the Greater Accra and Volta Oti areas, offering participants deeper insight into the country’s heritage.
As part of the cultural showcase, the Frafra Heritage Crew represented the northern sector with performances that featured traditional dances, cuisine and the Frafra fugu, a distinctive traditional attire from the area.
Mr Ati also joined members on stage to perform some of the traditional dances.
At the end of the programme, the church recognised Elder Eric Forson and Mrs Joyce Appah as the overall best dressed participants for the Traditional Sunday celebration in recognition of their outstanding traditional attire and active participation.
The event was organised in line with the national Heritage Month celebration, themed “Experience Ghana, My Heritage, My Pride,” which seeks to promote cultural preservation, tourism and economic growth.
