Trok Station FC progress in Homowo Cup

Trok Station FC has booked qualification to the next stage of the 2023 RAD-sponsored La Homowo 5-aside soccer tournament that commenced at La Roman JHS Park on Wednesday.

They accounted for Court FC 1-0 in a packed game with the only goal coming from the foot of Michael Ala.

The highly contentious game, which opened the three-week tournament, was watched by traditional leaders from La, Osu, Teshie, Nungua and football fans from the three communities.

After a pulsating first half which had few goal-scoring chances, Trok Station upped their game in the second half as Ala grabbed the opener with a 58th-minute strike after weaving his way through the defence of Court FC.

Court FC pressed for the equaliser but efforts from Nii Yartey, Tony Cruz and Kwatei Saha were thwarted by Edward Mensah in defence of the winners.

Mensah ended as the toast of the fans as he blocked a last-minute effort from a Saha strike to deny a time added on equaliser.

He was adjudged as the man-of-the-match and received lunch and dinner vouchers from Legends Food and Drinks restaurant.

The lone goalscorer, Mohammed Ala, received an amount of Gh¢200 from Mr Raymond Addai-Danquah, CEO of RAD Group.
