The Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, is to host the Vice President of Colombia, Madam Francia Elena Márquez Mina, at the Jubilee House as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
The Colombian Vice President is in Ghana for a working visit aimed at deepening diplomatic and economic ties.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Press Secretary and Spokesperson at the Office of the Vice President, Ms. Ama Pratt. She said Prof. Opoku-Agyemang would begin the engagement with a closed-door meeting with her Colombian counterpart.
“The two leaders are expected to discuss areas of mutual interest before joining their delegations for broader bilateral talks in the Credentials Room,” she said.
“The discussions will focus on ways to boost trade and investment between Ghana and Colombia, with both sides interested in creating new opportunities that can support economic growth,” Ms. Pratt added.
Ms. Pratt said technology, innovation, and development cooperation are also high on the agenda, as the two countries explore practical ways to share expertise and strengthen South-South collaboration.
The Press Secretary and Spokesperson at the Office of the Vice President said the visit reflected a growing commitment by both nations to work together on issues that promote inclusive development.
“It also offers an opportunity for Ghana and Colombia to expand existing partnerships and identify new areas of cooperation that can benefit their citizens,” she stated.
“The meeting is expected to highlight the importance of building strong global partnerships, especially among developing countries that share similar goals for progress, equity, and sustainable development,” she said.
She added that the meeting is expected to open doors for future exchanges in culture, education, and other sectors that could enrich the relationship between the two countries.
Ghana and Colombia have over the years maintained cordial relations, and this visit is seen as another step toward deepening that bond.
