Wolves reject City bid for Nunes

Wolves have reportedly rejected a £47million bid from Manchester City for MatheusNunes.

Pep Guardiola’s side are looking to bolster their midfield and having abandoned their pursuit of West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta are now looking at other targets, including Nunes.

Wolves are said to have immediately turned down their approach, although the Premier League champions are intending to submit another bid, as per The Telegraph.

Kevin De Bruyne’s serious injury, coupled with the departure of IlkayGundogan to Barcelona this summer, has left the Treble winners in need of another midfielder.

Guardiola lavished the Portugal international with praise after City faced Sporting in the Champions League a year ago before he then made the switch to Molineux. The 24-year-old’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is currently organising Joao Cancelo’s departure from City to Barcelona.

Losing Nunes, one of their top players who signed from Sporting for a club-record £38m on a five-year deal last summer, would be another blow in what looks like a stormy season ahead for Wolves.

Wolves have already lost a spate of high-profile players this summer.

Fulham signed striker, Raul Jimenez, for £5.5m, Ruben Neves joined Saudi Arabian side, Al-Hilal, for a club-record £47m, Leicester picked up ConorCoady for £7.5m, and Brentford signed Nathan Collins for £23m. —DailyMail
