3 grabbed for murder of 25-year-old man
Three persons have been arrested by the police in connection with the gruesome murder of a 25-year-old man at Djankrom near Nsawam in the Eastern Region, last Sunday.
The suspects, whose names have been withheld for security reasons and other accomplices, reportedly attacked the deceased, Wisdom Mensah, suspected to have stolen two ducks with cutlass, stones, sticks, resulting in his death.
The Nsawam District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police (Supt) Marian Osei Adu-Owusu, confirmed the story to the Ghanaian Times, stating that the suspects were currently in the custody of the police assisting in investigations.
She said on March 31, at about 3a.m, the police went to the scene after receiving a tip-off.
Supt Adu-Owusu said Mensah, who was alleged to have attempted stealing two ducks from a house, was found lying unconscious on the ground with deep cutlass wounds on his body and bleeding profusely.
“The police found at the scene sticks, stones and other implements believed to have been used to commit the crime,” he said
The police commander said Mensah was rushed to the Nsawam Government Hospital by the police, but died whilst receiving treatment.
She said the police arrested the three suspects to assist in investigations, and called on residents to provide information that could assist in arresting the accomplices.
