$1.3bn Airport Garden City project begins • Pres Mahama calls for strong local content

PRESIDENT John Dramani Mahama has cut the sod for work to begin on the US$1.3 billion Sentuo Airport Garden City project in Accra.

Christened “Garden Above Accra,” the project comprises about 582 premium apartments, a 600-room hotel and a conference facility with a capacity for 2,500 people.

It will also feature healthcare facilities, a modern shopping mall, landscaped gardens, 503 parking bays within a four-storey apartment building, as well as other commercial and leisure amenities.

Speaking before cutting the sod for the project yesterday, President Mahama said its success would ultimately be determined by the extent to which it contributed to the national economy.

“The true value of this project will not be measured solely by the number or scale of the buildings that are constructed but its contribution to our economy. It would also be measured by the quality of the urban environment that it creates and above all by the opportunities that it delivers to the Ghanaian people,” he said. Read More
