18th Ghana Property Awards Held in Accra

The 18th Ghana Property Awards was held in Accra on Saturday under the theme “Celebrating Excellence in Efficient Land Banking for National Prosperity.” The annual event recognises outstanding performers in Ghana’s housing and property sector.

Elegent Homes and General Construction Limited emerged for the fourth consecutive time as the Best Residential Developer – Middle Income (Luxurious), 2025. The company was honoured for consistently delivering exceptional residential projects tailored to Ghana’s middle-income market, incorporating superior design, premium finishing and lifestyle-focused amenities. Their work continues to redefine quality housing standards within this segment.

Other award categories celebrated included the Best Real Estate Management Firm of the Year 2025, Best Survey and Engineering Firm – Infrastructure Projects, and Diaspora Mortgage Provider of the Year. Additional recognitions went to winners in the areas of Trusted Real Estate Broker of the Year, Management and Advisory Property Company of the Year, and Property Developer with Potentials 2025.

Director of the Ghana Property Awards (GAPOA), Ms Irene Agyenkwa, noted that Ghana’s property market has shown remarkable resilience and adaptability despite global economic challenges. These challenges, she said, include access to finance, regulatory clarity and infrastructure gaps. However, she emphasised that they also present opportunities for collaboration, policy innovation and bold leadership.

Ms Agyenkwa further advocated for land banking to be treated as a national priority, stressing that it is key to building a property sector that is both resilient and transformative. She commended all nominees and winners for projecting Ghana’s property market positively on the global stage.

In a speech delivered on behalf of the Minister of Works, Housing and Water Resources, Mr Kenneth Adjei, it was disclosed that the ministry is working closely with traditional authorities, local assemblies and private developers to establish systems that safeguard land for housing, industrial development and social amenities.

He noted that the government cannot achieve this vision alone, calling for active participation from investors, surveyors, architects and developers. According to the Minister, the goal is to transition land banking from a fragmented and isolated practice into a coordinated national strategy that secures Ghana’s future.

The Minister urged all stakeholders to treat land not as a speculative commodity but as a shared heritage and strategic resource necessary for national progress.
