30 artisans in Mion receive tools under apprenticeship programme

THIRTY artisans in the Mion District of the Northern Region on Tuesday received working tools and industrial machines under the National Apprenticeship Programme(NAP).
The initiative forms part of government efforts to promote skills development, entrepreneurship and sustainable employment among the youth.
It is also aimed at supporting young people who have completed their apprenticeship training to establish their own businesses.
At a ceremony in Sang to hand over the equipment, the District Chief Executive for Mion, Mr. Hamza Azindoo Moabalyn, said the programme was designed to equip young people with employable skills and support their transition into entrepreneurship.
He explained that the initiative was part of government efforts to reduce youth unemployment and underemployment by providing practical training and start-up tools for beneficiaries.
Mr. Moabalyn described the programme as a strategic intervention aimed at empowering the youth with practical skills to improve their livelihoods.
He noted that the provision of industrial machines and working tools went beyond material support and represented an investment in human capital and the economic transformation of the district.
The Member of Parliament for Mion, Alhaji Misbaw Adam Mahama, said the distribution of the equipment was a deliberate investment in the future of young people.
He noted that the programme demonstrated government’s commitment to equipping the youth with employable skills, tools and opportunities to secure sustainable livelihoods.
According to him, the vision of the initiative was to move beneficiaries from apprenticeship to entrepreneurship.
Alhaji Mahama added that technical and vocational training among the youth would help reduce unemployment and poverty in communities.
He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the tools and assured applicants who were not selected in the first phase to remain patient as efforts were being made to include them in subsequent phases of the programme.
