ACESD provides book-keeping, marketing skills to 22 women in Tamale Metropolis
African Canadian Centre for Employment and Skills Development (ACESD), a local non-governmental organisation based in Tamale, has trained 22 women entrepreneurs from the informal sector at Tuutingli, a suburb of Tamale Metropolis in the Northern Region, on book-keeping and marketing strategies.
The women were drawn from Kpanvo, Banvim, Fooshegu, Tuutingli and Kalariga, and funding for the project was from friends of the ACESD.
The Programme Coordinator of ACESD, Mrs Suraya Sulemana, stated that the idea of the training was to guide them to enhance record keeping of their businesses.
She said this was also to ensure that they had proper business management and record keeping of their businesses, adding “We are offering the training to them because we want them to have full control on their businesses expenditures during the sale of their goods.”
Mrs Sulemana added that training was also to ensure longevity of their businesses saying that many businesses collapsed because “they did not have the skills to record of the sales they make on daily basis.”
The Coordinator also noted that they were taken through how to keep proper records after sells of their products, and urged them to take the lessons they learnt from the training seriously in order to enhance their businesses.
Madam Issah Ayisha, a beneficiary of the training, who spoke on behalf of the group, thanked the organisers for the training given to them.
She said because they do not know book keeping, financial management had brought their businesses backwards
She mentioned that now that they had the knowledge, they could boast of keeping their records accurately in order to serve their businesses to grow.
