ADB presents GH¢1m for 2023 Nat’l Best Farmer
The Agricultural Development Bank PLC (ADB) has presented a dummy cheque for GH¢1 million to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), to be given to the National Best Farmer for 2023.
Aside sponsoring the cocktail for the national award winners, the bank would also sponsor the farmers’ forum as well as the main event slated for Friday, December 1, 2023.
The Deputy Managing Director of the Bank, Eno Ofori-Atta, presenting the dummy cheque, said the bank, being the choice of farmers and fishers, was privileged to sponsor the 2023 National Farmers’ Day celebrations as it has done over the years.
She said Farmers Day had been an occasion that brought farmers, fishers and agricultural experts together to brainstorm on contemporary best practices to ensure sustainable and profitable agriculture.
“We are here to fulfil our sponsorship of GH¢1 million to the 2023 National Best Farmer and the government through the Ministry to rededicate our commitment to enhance our investment in the agricultural sector,” Ms Ofori-Atta said.
She explained that it would improve food security, assist farmers provide raw materials and also adopt new approach to agro-based industries “in order to create employment for the teeming youth in the country”.
The Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, Yaw Frimpong Addo, who is also the chair of the National Farmers Day Planning Committee, commended the bank for fulfilling its pledge as the lead sponsor of the event.
According to him, a lot of innovations had been added to this year’s celebrations, and said that the exhibition of farm produce would start from November 27 to 30 in Accra.
Mr Addo stated that the award winners would visit some tourist sites on November 28.
He urged individuals and corporate institutions to support the planning committee in cash and kind to reward farmers and fishers
