Adentan Municipal Assembly donates to Muslim community
The Adentan Municipal Assembly last Friday presented assorted food items to Muslims in the community.
The items, which included 100 bags of rice and 25 cartons of cooking oil, were to support the Muslim community in the Holy month of Ramadan.
The Coordinating Director of the assembly, Mrs Jemmima Apedo-Kallikrates, who presented the items on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Daniel Alexander Nii-Noi Adumuah, said the gesture formed part of the assembly’s social responsibility, show of love and appreciation to the Muslim community during their fasting period.
“You fasted and prayed for the government, the assembly and the community as a whole. It is now the duty of the assembly to appreciate your efforts so that you would replenish the lost energy towards forging a united front to promote the socio-economic development of the area,” she added.
She urged the Muslim community to maintain the peaceful co-existence with other religions for the total development of the area.
The Adentan Chief Imam, Alhaji Mohammed Issahaq, commended the assembly for the annual gesture for which Allah would continue to bless them in all endeavours.
“Allah would continue to bless the government and the assembly for always supporting the Muslim community during their fasting period, adding “Allah would continue to offer great knowledge and wisdom for the fore runners to take bold decisions to improve the fortunes of the people,” he said.
He urged Muslim youth to eschew all forms of violence and vices that tarnished the image of Muslims in the community, andsee the fasting period as a great opportunity to turn a new leaf.
Alhaji Issahaq stated that since the meaning of Islam was “I have surrendered”, it behooved Muslim youth to support their leaders and pray for peace in the country and other parts of the world, where there were disturbances.
