The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has supported the Ga Mantse Education Fund with a whopping GH¢500,000.
The gesture, announced during Asantehene’s historic visit to the Ga State, led by Nii Teiko Tsuru II, was also to support the education of underprivileged GaDamgbes.
He said, speaking through his Chief Linguist, “I want to donate an amount of GH¢500,000 to the Ga Education Fund to help in the education of less-privileged Ga children.”
This durbar, the first historic visit by the King of Ashanti to the Ga State since 1946, drew a large following from the traditional, clergy, business, political and the diplomatic circles.
The Asantehene expressed his gratitude to the Ga State for the warm reception and called for unity among the Ga and Ashanti peoples, as well as among all chiefs in the country saying, “The people of Ga and Ashanti must unite to develop our peoples. All Ga chiefs must unite behind Nii Teiko Tsuru II. Unity and development must be our focus in the interest of our children.
“The fight now should be for development in the interest of the future generation.”
The Asantehene expressed appreciation to Nii Teiko Tsuru II for the support shown during his 25th anniversary celebrations, stating, “I appreciate your presence during my 25th anniversary celebration. You showed love. This is a reciprocal gesture.”
The Asantehene called on all chiefs in the Ga State to support Nii Teiko Tsuru II in his efforts to develop the region and pledged his ongoing support for the Ga Mantse.
The Ga Mantse expressed gratitude to the Asantehene for the gesture.
Also speaking through an interpreter, he advised that all and sundry, particularly politicians, must ensure that Ghana emerges as the winner after the forthcoming general elections.
To him, Ghana, considered as a beacon of democracy, must maintain that enviable status.
He expressed appreciation to the Asantehene on behalf of Ga chiefs for the august visit and the gesture.
The Ga Mantse called on all Gas to come together (unity) to pursue a common destiny and desist from acts that create division.
