Black Queens arrive in Zambia for 2nd leg Olympic qualifier
Ghana’s Black Queens have arrived in Ndola for the return leg of the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifier against Zambia on Wednesday at 6pm.
The team left Accra on Friday after losing the first leg 1-0 to the Copper Queens and was received by staff of the Ghana mission in Zambia.
The Black Queens aim to make the fourth and final round of the qualifiers despite losing 1-0 to the Zambians as they need a resounding victory to secure a spot in the next round of the qualifiers.
Zambia scored a first half goal to beat Ghana 1-0 in the first leg of the Women’s Olympic Games third round qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Rechael Kundananji – the world’s most expensive female footballer, scored the only goal of the match to give Zambia a fascinating first leg advantage.
The Bay FC forward chipped the ball over Ghana goalkeeper, Victoria AntwiAdjei, inside 18 minutes to give the Copper Queens the lead.
The Black Queens came close to getting the equaliser a few times but the visitors held on as the first half ended 1-0 in their favor.
Back from recess, the Black Queens gained composure as they dominated the game but failed to put the ball at the back of the opponents net.
