DCE calls for support for govt initiatives in Mion

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Mion District in the Northern Region, Mr Azindow Hamza Moabaly, has called on chiefs, opinion leaders, youth and residents to support government initiatives to ensure their successful implementation.

He said active participation and contributions from the people would enable the assembly to accelerate development in the district.

Mr Moabaly made the call at Sang during the assembly’s first “accounting to the people” forum held yesterday.

The forum formed part of a regional initiative by the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC) to replicate the government’s “Resetting Agenda” tour and stakeholder engagements across all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the region.

He explained that the forum was aimed at presenting the assembly’s achievements and development interventions undertaken since 2025 to the people of Mion and surrounding communities.

The DCE said the assembly had implemented projects across key sectors, including education, health, sanitation, roads, social welfare, security, youth empowerment and local economic development.

He noted that despite challenges, the assembly had made significant progress in improving infrastructure and service delivery through collaboration with government agencies, development partners and local stakeholders.

Mr Moabaly also emphasised that development was a shared responsibility and urged residents to support the assembly in ensuring the successful completion of projects.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Mion, Alhaji Adams Misbaw Mahama, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing development initiatives to benefit communities across the country.

He said the stakeholder engagement would strengthen collaboration between the assembly and residents in addressing development needs within the district.

Alhaji Mahama assured the people of his commitment to working closely with them to promote sustainable development and improve living conditions.

The Northern Regional Minister, Mr Ali Adolf John Mburidiba, underscored the importance of transparency, accountability and citizen participation in governance.

He stated that the government remained committed to ensuring that public officials accounted directly to the people they served.

Mr Mburidiba explained that the stakeholder engagement initiative was designed to deepen trust between government and citizens, while providing a platform for assemblies to showcase their development efforts and receive feedback from the public.

He said the initiative was inspired by President John Dramani Mahama’s nationwide “Resetting Agenda”.

Mr Mburidiba further added that the engagements sought to bring governance closer to the people and promote inclusive development through active citizen participation.
