Federation of Muslim Council calls on govt to tighten security
The Federation of Muslim Council (FMC) has urged government to take urgent steps to tighten the country’s security to ensure that citizens contribute their quota to national development in an atmosphere of peace.
In a statement to wish all Muslims a happy “Eid”, the Council also advised Muslim youth to desist from unlawful acts such as “riding motorcycles at top speed and without helmet as well as driving recklessly on the roads in disregard of traffic rules and other road users” during the celebrations.
“On the occasion of the celebration of Eid-ul Fitr, the FMC wished Ghanaian Muslims Eid Mubarak for going through the month-long Ramadan fast in peace and tranquillity,” the statement signed by the General Secretary, Hajj Muhammad Amir Kpakpo Addo, said.
Security experts in recent times have expressed the likelihood of Ghana plunging into chaos following a number of incidents that threatened the peace and stability of the country.
Incidents of vandalism, violence, indiscipline, disaffection, break down of law and order among others continue to characterise national discourse with the threat of terrorist attack imminent heightening calls for the country to strengthen its security structure to protect the citizenry.
