Gold Stars, Kotoko get tricky draws in CAF competitions
Ghana Premier League champions, Bibiani Gold Stars, will face Algerian side, JS Kabylie, in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League campaign.
Gold Stars will host the first leg in Ghana from September 19-21, before traveling to Algeria for the return fixture from September 26-28.
The winner of this tie will meet the winner of the match between East End Lions of Sierra Leone and Tunisia’s US Monastir in the second preliminary round.
The second preliminary round is scheduled to take place from October 17-19, for the first leg, and from October 24-26, for the return fixture, with the aggregate winner securing a spot in the group stage of the competition.
Asante Kotoko, winners of the MTN FA Cup, have been drawn against Nigerian side, Kwara United, in the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
Kotoko will host the first leg in Ghana between September 19 and 21, before travelling to Nigeria for the return fixture from September 26-28.
The winner of this tie will face Moroccan side, Wydad Casablanca, in the second preliminary round, which will take place between October 17 and 19 for the first leg, with the return leg scheduled for October 24-26.
